Meet the photographer
Hi, I'm Sayuru Alwis
I am a storyteller who sees the world through the lens of two vibrant cultures. Based in Canada and inspired by the ancient name of my home, Sri Lanka. I founded Taprobane to offer something truly unique to the photography and marketing world. I believe that every person, product, and brand is a "rare gemstone" that simply needs the right light and "cut" to reveal its hidden brilliance. My goal is to capture that soulful, vivid energy in every frame, bringing a touch of the extraordinary to the everyday.
Why I do this
Photography is my way of preserving the temporary and highlighting what is truly unique. I believe every brand and individual has a distinct light that deserves to be celebrated. After ten years behind the camera, I still find the greatest joy in that split second when a raw, authentic moment is transformed into a timeless masterpiece.
How I work
I combine a decade of technical precision with the soulful, artistic hospitality rooted in my heritage. I don’t just "take" pictures; I collaborate with you to create them. My process is deeply personal—I listen to your vision, refine the details, and "cut" away the noise until your true story stands out with professional, polished clarity.
Fun Facts about me
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m likely in the kitchen bringing bold flavors to life. I also spend my free time diving into the latest TV series or getting lost in video games. These hobbies aren't just a way to relax; they keep my creative imagination I bring to my photography projects.
